A Touch of Chelsea

One thing I am learning as a student in Birmingham is to venture off the beaten track. Many students can go their whole degree only visiting the Bullring, Broad Street and Victoria Square, which are all smashing in their own right, but I’m learning early on that Brum and the surrounding area has much more to offer.

At this point I would like to defy gender stereotypes and tell you all that I’m into computer programming and beer. Sadly, I would be lying – I like shopping. And I like Flowers. And I like reality TV. So you can imagine my excitement upon hearing of an event that combines all three. This Thursday (22nd May) Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull (only a short train journey from New Street station) is putting its own twist on the Chelsea Flower Show. Five-time award winner Joseph Massie will have created a dress made entirely from fresh flowers, which is to be unveiled by Made in Chelsea star and fashion blogger Rosie Fortescue. And if a deep longing within you isn’t already satisfied by the Chelsea on Chelsea combo, they’re only throwing in a flashmob of this summers floral┬átrends as well.

The event takes place between 4pm and 8pm in Touchwood Shopping Centre, which is perfect for some retail therapy after a day of revision or after work. There will hopefully be a chance to meet Rosie as well as endless photo opportunities of what should be an incredible dress and a top notch evening. Touch Wood (I couldn’t not?).

Let me know what you think!
