On Good Girl Gone Brum, I am often asked to dine at a restaurant complimentary for review purposes, or attend events where drinks etc. are on the house. However, you can always expect my honest opinion, good or bad, and I will only write about places/products that I feel my readers would be genuinely interested in. I will always state during the post if I was invited specially to review, as well as noting in the disclaimer whether the meal was fully or partly complimentary.
For those of you wondering whether it’s possible not to be swayed into a positive disposition by complimentary food, it’s a matter of what is at stake. I have worked my (out of all proportion) booty off creating a community of readers who trust my opinion – I would not risk losing that hard-earned trust just because the restaurant happened to cover my bill. And, on the subject of bills, as nice as free food is, my Landlord, energy provider or the lovely folk at Virgin Media will not accept it regurgitated on a cheque as a form of payment, so please bear this in mind if you’re inclined to think my life as a food blogger is all perk and no work. On a less sassy note, I’m not one to utterly slate the small businesses and independents of Birmingham online, so I will always try and focus on constructive feedback rather than ripping somewhere apart; I want Good Girl Gone Brum to primarily celebrate the fab food and drink destinations Birmingham has to offer!
All the content on Good Girl Gone Brum is written by myself unless stated otherwise (for example guest posts), and is all my own opinion.
